This not so hidden gem of Netherlands is a fairytale village of Holland, often known as Venice of Netherlands. If you visiting Amsterdam then this a must-visit for you. A village with ‘no cars and no roads’ is a treat for leisure seekers. Thatched roof houses, bridges alongside the canal make it a scenic and gorgeous place. Away from the hustle of city life you can chill and admire the canals, ponds, and the scenery. This village is connected by narrow canals and boat is the primary mode of commutation for residents. Things  to do in Giethoorn

  1. Canal Boat Ride – The best way to view this fairytale village is from the water. Take a canal guided boat ride to sail through this gorgeous village, relax and learn about this place. You can also explore the electric boat, canoe, or traditional boat. You can rent a boat for a self-navigated trip by numerous of the boat hire company.   2.  Visit Museums – Giethoorn has few small museums like “Het Olde Maat Uus” Museum, this is a living museum showcasing a historic farming village and often has actors in traditional clothing. It also has a gift shop & a cafe. Few other museums are Gloria Maris (shell gallery),  Museum de Oude Aarde (you can find a wide collection of gemstones and minerals.), The Histomobil ( you can find a vast collection of cars, motorcycles, and carriages.)img_3825
  3. Best Picnic spot ever – A meal on a nice spot, alongside the canal in this scenic village is something to look forward. You can either pack a lunch or you can pick a restaurant.
